Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Evan Rodgers and Lenox Haynes Lead Omaha Central to Victory

Omaha Central posted their biggest win since January 7th on Friday. They put the hurt on the Omaha Northwest Huskies with a sharp 63-43 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Omaha Central was led to victory by Lenox Haynes and Evan Rodgers. Haynes went 5 of 10 to rack up 17 points and eight rebounds, while Rodgers posted 13 points and five boards. That's the most boards Haynes has posted since back in December of 2024. Charlie Hillebrandt also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Omaha Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Omaha Northwest still got an impressive performance from DaWayne Kearney, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points. Kearney has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Dubose, who scored nine points and five blocks.

Omaha Central's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Omaha Northwest, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Omaha Central will host Bellevue East at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Omaha Northwest, it'll be Northside v. Southside when they and Millard South meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
