Preview: Timberline Wolves vs. Eagle Mustangs
Timberline is 2-8 against Eagle since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Timberline Wolves will play host again and welcome the Eagle Mustangs, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Timberline beat Borah 41-34. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Timberline has scored all season.
Timberline can attribute much of their success to Jackson Kelly, who scored 11 points, and Jacob Heyne, who scored 14 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Alex Ko, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Eagle entered their tilt with Preston with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Eagle walked away with a 53-43 victory over Preston on Saturday.
Timberline pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Eagle, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Timberline beat Eagle 67-54 when the teams last played back in February. Does Timberline have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eagle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
