Meanwhile, Howland narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Geneva 2-1.
The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-15, 26-24.
Austintown-Fitch better keep an eye on Gabby Rich. She was instrumental in Howland's win, getting 12 digs and four aces.
Howland was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are 7-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
Austintown-Fitch's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Howland, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
