Softball Game Preview: Wolfe County Wolves vs. Pikeville Panthers

The Wolfe County Wolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Pikeville Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wolfe County is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Wolfe County might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-2 to Rowan County, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Pikeville duked it out with Shelby Valley on Tuesday. The Panthers walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Wildcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Pikeville now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Wolfe County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Wolfe County got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Pikeville by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
