Baseball Game Preview: Deerfield Demons vs. Palmyra-Eagle Panthers

For the second straight game, Deerfield will face off against Palmyra-Eagle. The Demons will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m.

Deerfield was handed a nine-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Palmyra-Eagle 4-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 6, 2025, but that streak is no more.

Landon Brattlie made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Deerfield is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-6-1 otherwise. Brattlie was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Aiden McAloon was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Noah Maginn was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Deerfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-7-1. As for Palmyra-Eagle, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
