South Warren won the last time they faced Owensboro and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Red Devils 2-1.

South Warren had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-8, 15-12.

South Warren found their leader in freshman Piper Gregory, who had 13 digs and two assists.

South Warren's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Owensboro, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3.

Coincidentally, South Warren and Owensboro will both be playing Green County the next time they take the court. The Spartans will head out to face the Dragons at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Red Devils will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
