Baseball Game Preview: North Plainfield Canucks vs. Metuchen Bulldogs

North Plainfield hasn't had much luck against Metuchen recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Canucks are taking a road trip to take on the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. North Plainfield's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Metuchen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

North Plainfield will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Metuchen, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Canucks never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Wednesday. While the Canucks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Metuchen's part, James Fenton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

North Plainfield's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Metuchen, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
