Recap: Gouverneur Wildcats vs. Canton Golden Bears
The Gouverneur Wildcats managed to keep up with the Canton Golden Bears until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Gouverneur ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-49 walloping at the hands of Canton. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gouverneur in their matchups with Canton: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raine Rumble, who scored 16 points. Rumble scored a full 32.7% of Gouverneur's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brodie Burns was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Gouverneur's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-3. As for Canton, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Gouverneur will head out on the road to face off against Norwood-Norfolk at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Canton will be home for the holidays to greet Potsdam at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Potsdam has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 353 points over their last five contests.
