Baseball Recap: Skipstone Academy Comes Up Short

Skipstone Academy extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-13 in the process. They came up short against the Flint River Academy Wildcats, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

Cody Collum was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Flint River Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Flint River Academy's side, Hunter Pike was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Ethan Newman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Skipstone Academy will welcome Lafayette Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Flint River Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Heritage Preparatory at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
