Basketball Recap: Pima Takes Down Horizon Honors in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pima walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Horizon Honors Eagles 58-26. The Roughriders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Pima got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Macy Allred out in front who went 7-for-11 to rack up 19 points and three steals. What's more, Allred also posted a 71% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kelsi Brimhall, who posted ten points and three steals.

Pima smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Horizon Honors lost, don't look at Audriana Anglada. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-8 on her way to 14 points. Anglada is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 60% in the last three games she's played.

Pima's win bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Horizon Honors, their loss dropped their record down to 18-12.

Looking ahead, Pima will face off against Fountain Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Pima: 27.9, Fountain Hills: 25.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Horizon Honors does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
