Basketball Recap: Darius Radoc Factoran's Big Game Can't Quite Lead River Islands over Downey

River Islands managed to slip by Downey the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Riptide came up short against the Knights on Friday, falling 65-44.

River Islands' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darius Radoc Factoran, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 14 points. Radoc Factoran is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Charles Mapanao, who posted 12 points.

Downey got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Solomon Paris out in front who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Paris is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Elder, who had 16 points and three steals.

River Islands' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Downey, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

River Islands wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-56 defeat against Ripon Christian on the 6th. As for Downey, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-50 loss against Beyer on the 6th.
