Softball Recap: Kirtland Takes a Loss

Kenston hit Kirtland with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hornets lost 10-2 to the Bombers. The Hornets have struggled against the Bombers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Kirtland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Kothera, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Kirtland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Kenston, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kirtland will square off against West Geauga at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kenston, they will take on Chagrin Falls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Bombers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
