Preview: El Camino Eagles vs. Del Campo Cougars
El Camino is on a five-game streak of home losses, Del Campo a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The El Camino Eagles will take on the Del Campo Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Camino comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
El Camino fell victim to Christian Brothers' stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 49-0 loss at the hands of the Falcons. While losing is never fun, El Camino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 864th, while Christian Brothers is ranked 290th).
Meanwhile, after soaring to 36 points the game before, Del Campo were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 14-7 to Rio Americano. That's two games in a row now that Del Campo has lost by exactly seven points.
The losses dropped El Camino to 1-8 and Del Campo to 3-6.
El Camino was dealt a bruising 42-6 defeat at the hands of Del Campo when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for El Camino, Nas Jones (who rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
