Softball Recap: Hoover Takes a Loss

If Hoover was riding high fresh off their 24-11 takedown of El Cajon Valley on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals came up short against the La Jolla Vikings on Wednesday, falling 17-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 11-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Hoover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Priscilla Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Hoover has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for La Jolla, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoover will host Crawford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.29 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for La Jolla, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kearny at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
