Softball Recap: Cooperstown Comes Up Short

Cooperstown fell victim to Port Byron and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Hawkeyes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Emerson Lippitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Cooperstown's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Port Byron, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Cooperstown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Byron, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Thousand Islands on the 27th.
