Manteno had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Beecher Bobcats with a sharp 8-1 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Nolan Canfield tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Buehler, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Andrew Norred was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Manteno is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Beecher, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-17.

As of now, neither Manteno nor the Bobcats have any future games scheduled.
