Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge Drops Season-High Score on Poudre

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fossil Ridge). They never let the Poudre Impalas get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the SaberCats in their matchups with the Impalas: they've now won eight in a row.

Logan Hessler looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luc Gaca-Thiele, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Griffin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Fossil Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poudre only managed one hit.

Fossil Ridge pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Poudre, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6.

Fossil Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Impalas: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
