Softball Game Preview: Renaissance Phoenix vs. Western International Cowboys

For the first time this season, Renaissance will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Western International Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Western International took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Renaissance, who comes in off a win.

Western International will be up against a hot Renaissance squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Phoenix blew past Harper Woods 19-3 on Wednesday.

Renaissance got a massive performance out of Skylar Cain-Miller, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayanah Branch, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Western International was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 16-3 to Southfield Arts & Tech. On the bright side, the three- run effort marked the Cowboys' highest-scoring game to date.

Renaissance was able to grind out a solid win over Western International in their previous matchup back in June of 2018, winning 11-7. Do the Phoenix have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cowboys turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
