Volleyball Recap: Fostoria Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jenna Counts and Amaiyah Rodriquez

The Fostoria Redmen didn't have quite enough to beat the Toledo Christian Eagles on Saturday and fell 3-2. The Redmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Fostoria wouldn't go down easily and took Toledo Christian into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-22, 15-9.

Amaiyah Rodriquez and Jenna Counts certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Rodriquez had 16 digs and three aces, while Counts had eight digs and four aces. With that strong performance, Rodriquez is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game.

Toledo Christian found their leader in freshman Lily Stannert, who had six aces and four digs. Those six aces set a new season-high mark for Stannert.

Fostoria's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Toledo Christian, they moved to 2-17 with that win, which also ended their 12-match losing streak.

Fostoria didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Eastwood on the 7th. As for Toledo Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Genoa Area on the 6th.
