Baseball Game Preview: Cassville Wildcats vs. Marionville Comets

The Cassville Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Marionville Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Tuesday. Cassville fell 6-2 to Logan-Rogersville. Cassville has struggled against Logan-Rogersville recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Marionville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 7-0 to Purdy. Comets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Tuesday.

Marionville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrisen Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Cassville now has a losing record of 2-3-1. As for Marionville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Cassville's way against Marionville when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Cassville made off with a 10-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
