Basketball Recap: First Baptist Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

First Baptist extended their road winning streak to nine games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Dylan Jones. The First Baptist Saints were the clear victor by an 80-60 margin over the Garland Christian Academy Swordsmen on Tuesday thanks in part to Jones, who went 11 of 21 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of First Baptist's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Leffler, who posted nine points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Despite the loss, Garland Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noah Doddy went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points. Carson Nabors was another key player, going 6 of 15 en route to 12 points.

First Baptist is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.1 points per game. As for Garland Christian Academy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-9.

First Baptist didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 94-84 victory against Ovilla Christian on the 17th. As for Garland Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-48 loss against Prestonwood Christian North on the 17th.
