Basketball Game Preview: Lee County Yellow Jackets vs. Scotland Fighting Scots

Lee County hasn't had much luck against Scotland recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lee County Yellow Jackets will take on the Scotland Fighting Scots at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Lee County is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-49 heartbreaker at the hands of Southern Lee.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cherish Smith, who posted 16 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasmin Quick, who earned 14 points.

Meanwhile, Scotland suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Richmond, falling 60-38. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Raiders are ranked 29th).

Lee County's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Scotland, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Lee County might still be hurting after the 57-35 loss they got from Scotland in their previous meeting on Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Scotland's Alicia McClain, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.
