Baseball Game Preview: Eldon Mustangs vs. Mexico Bulldogs

Eldon is 1-9 against Mexico since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mustangs will square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Eldon got the win against Warsaw by a conclusive 19-2. That looming 19-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Meanwhile, Mexico sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Hallsville on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Indians since March 18, 2019.

Zach Jahn and Pearson Kleinsorge did most of the damage at the plate: Jahn got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one triple, while Kleinsorge went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Kleinsorge a new career-high. Chance McCarty was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Mexico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hallsville only posted an OBP of .382.

Eldon's record is now 12-10. As for Mexico, their record now sits at 17-10.

Eldon suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Mexico in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
