Basketball Recap: Dora Comes Up Short

Dora was the 57-53 winner over Gateway Christian when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Dora Coyotes were beaten by the Gateway Christian Warriors 82-47 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gateway Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zack McCracken, who shot 57% from the field to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points McCracken has posted since back in December of 2024. Victor Oaxaca was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

With the defeat, Dora broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-15. As for Gateway Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

Dora does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gateway Christian, they will square off against Melrose at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Melrose is on a six-game streak of home wins, Gateway Christian a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
