Basketball Recap: Shirley Comes Up Short at Home Against Sacred Heart

Shirley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sacred Heart Rebels on Tuesday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Leading Sacred Heart to victory were Joe Sommers and Xander Osborn. Sommers posted 20 points, while Osborn earned 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Drilling, who scored seven points.

Shirley has already played their next contest (against Hillcrest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Sacred Heart, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-53 victory against Scranton on the 24th.
