Softball Recap: Carmel Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

While Carmel put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Soledad. The Padres blew past the Aztecs 10-0. Considering the Padres have won ten matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Mangiapane made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Mangiapane was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kristen Mastin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Beals, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Carmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Soledad only posted an OBP of .176.

Carmel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Soledad, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9.
