Recap: Independence Knights vs. Heritage Coyotes
This season hasn't been kind to the Independence Knights, who are still winless after their 13th game. They were beaten by Heritage 64-20 on Friday. Independence was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Leading Heritage to victory were Jadyn Middleton and Giovanna Castro. Middleton scored eight points along with five rebounds, while Castro scored 12 points. Castro continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniya Souter, who scored six points.
Independence bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Independence will head out on the road to face off against Walnut Grove at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Walnut Grove presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Independence in Texas (Walnut Grove is ranked 586th, while Independence is ranked 1219th). Heritage will be home for the holidays to greet Memorial at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Memorial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
