Middle Creek had won two straight home games and Cameron Gerber did her part to make it three on Thursday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Fuquay - Varina Bengals with a sharp 3-0 win for which the team can thank Gerber, who had 18 digs and five aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more digs the last three times she's played.

While Middle Creek won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 27-25, 25-20.

Middle Creek now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Fuquay - Varina, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Middle Creek will square off against Sanderson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Fuquay - Varina, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Green Hope on the 8th.
