Heritage had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Creek Wood Red Hawks. This was payback for the Mountaineers, who suffered a 9-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Katelyn Russell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Russell wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Portlyn Bennett, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Heritage's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Creek Wood, their defeat dropped their record down to 30-14.

Heritage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Gibbs on the 21st. Hopefully Creek Wood paid attention to the Mountaineers' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Mountaineers at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
