Volleyball Recap: Roger Bacon Takes a Loss

Roger Bacon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Summit Country Day Silver Knights. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Silver Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Roger Bacon started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-21, 25-15, 25-18.

When it comes to explaining why Roger Bacon lost, don't look at Claudia Hoffmann. Despite the final result, she had 26 digs and two aces. Hoffmann is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Paxtyn Collins also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Roger Bacon's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Summit Country Day, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Roger Bacon will square off against Archbishop McNicholas at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Summit Country Day, they will face off against Cincinnati Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
