Basketball Recap: Essex's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Essex can now relate to. They took a 60-43 bruising from the Champlain Valley Union Redhawks on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Redhawks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 42-39 loss back in February.

Essex's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points over those games. As for Champlain Valley Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Essex does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Champlain Valley Union, they will host St. Johnsbury Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Champlain Valley Union is on a four-game streak of home wins, St. Johnsbury Academy a nine-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
