Softball Recap: Cypress Creek Makes It Five in a Row at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cypress Creek had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Tohopekaliga Tigers. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Amanda Cintron made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Alondra Lozada was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Cypress Creek pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tohopekaliga, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Cypress Creek nor Tohopekaliga have any future games scheduled.
