Basketball Recap: Gavin Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead First Presbyterian Day over Southland Academy

After flying high against Covenant Academy on Tuesday, First Presbyterian Day came back down to earth. The Vikings lost to the Southland Academy Raiders at home by a 66-52 margin on Thursday. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 59-49 to the Raiders when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Wilson, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Wilson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Gray Gleaton, who posted 14 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, First Presbyterian Day fell to 2-1. As for Southland Academy, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Presbyterian Day will challenge George Walton Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southland Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Terrell Academy at 7:15 p.m. on December 2.
