Softball Preview: Gulf Breeze Dolphins vs. Tate Aggies

The Gulf Breeze Dolphins will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Tate Aggies at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gulf Breeze gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Milton 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dolphins.

Sydney Hersom made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Hersom was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Sally Alberson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kylie Reed, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Tate took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They blew past Crestview 17-3.

Lacy Wilson was a standout: she scored four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Wine, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.

Tate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crestview only posted an OBP of .348.

Gulf Breeze took their win against Tate in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0. Will Gulf Breeze repeat their success, or does Tate have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
