Basketball Recap: Roy Drops Season-High Score on Box Elder

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roy). They were the clear victor by a 57-33 margin over the Box Elder Bees on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Royals considering their 20-point performance the matchup before.

Among those leading the charge was Jazzi Prieto, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 11 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellen Speredon, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Box Elder lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Emma Nelson, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 11 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Paola Almeida, who earned seven points and six rebounds.

The win snapped Roy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-14 record. As for Box Elder, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-21.

Roy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-48 defeat against Maple Mountain on the 18th. Box Elder does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
