Recap: South Mountain Jaguars vs. North Canyon Rattlers
There's no place like home for the South Mountain Jaguars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against North Canyon by a score of 56-47 on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for South Mountain, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading South Mountain to victory were Bry'ann Wiley and Julia Abdelsalam. Wiley dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds, while Abdelsalam dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Abdelsalam has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Asia Martin, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Rattlers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Adams, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Adams is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lanaya McCloud was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds.
South Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for North Canyon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Mountain will take on Sierra Linda at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Sierra Linda focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Monday. As for North Canyon, they will be playing at home against Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Wednesday.
