Baseball Recap: Beekmantown Eagles vs. Saranac Spartans
After losing to Saranac the last time they met, Beekmantown decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Spartans on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Steven Bronson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Beekmantown's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Jacob Lagree was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Hunter Porter was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
