Basketball Recap: Tatum Van Pelt and Bethany Vrooman Secure Win for Resurrection Christian + How To Watch

It was a proper cat-fight when Resurrection Christian took on Canon City on Friday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 46-23 win. The Cougars pushed the score to 37-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had little chance of recovering from.

Leading Resurrection Christian to victory were Bethany Vrooman and Tatum Van Pelt. Vrooman posted 20 points and eight rebounds, while Van Pelt put up nine points along with eight steals and five boards. Van Pelt is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least seven every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jenna Kennedy, who had four points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Resurrection Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Resurrection Christian now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Canon City, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Resurrection Christian will take on Eaton in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' defense better be ready for this one: the Reds have averaged an impressive 52.3 points per game this season. Canon City and Summit will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Canon City is facing Summit at the right time seeing as Summit is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
