Montevallo has gone a perfect 7-0 against Vincent recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Montevallo Bulldogs will square off against the Vincent Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Montevallo fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Comer on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 20-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The loss was the Bulldogs' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Vincent also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Ranburne by a score of 9-4. The Yellow Jackets have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.

Ava Reese Waldrop was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Natalie Schiller was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Maggie Walker, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Vincent was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Having lost for the first time this season, Montevallo fell to 2-1. As for Vincent, their record now sits at 5-3.

Montevallo beat Vincent 7-4 in their previous matchup last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montevallo since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
