Basketball Recap: Lanier Christian Academy Piles Up the Points Against Fideles Christian

Lanier Christian Academy entered their tilt with Fideles Christian on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Rangers 80-50. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-17.

Lanier Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mekhi Barber led the charge by shooting 67% from the field on his way to 18 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Barber is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Roberts, who went 8-for-10 to rack up 18 points.

Several Rangers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Shadburn, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. Caleb Watson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Lanier Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Fideles Christian, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lanier Christian Academy will take on Pinecrest Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fideles Christian, they will face off against White Creek Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rangers will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.64 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
