Softball Recap: Michigan Lutheran Seminary Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Michigan Lutheran Seminary waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Valley Lutheran Chargers with a sharp 20-4 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-4 on Friday.

Kerin Gardner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charli Alcorn, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Emily Laupichler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Valley Lutheran, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
