Baseball Recap: Mott Comes Up Short

Mott was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 7-4 to the Seaholm Maples. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Corsairs of the 11-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

Nick Sroczynski put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mott is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-28 otherwise. Sroczynski was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Sroczynski wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Julian Robertoy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mott's loss dropped their record down to 3-29. As for Seaholm, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

While Mott had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
