Baseball Recap: Darlington Takes a Loss

Darlington extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 6-12. They came up short against the Wilson Tigers, falling 9-3. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by exactly six runs.

Darlington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Oliver, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Wilson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-11. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Wilson's side, the team relied heavily on Kingston Cooper, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Cooper a new career-high in hits (three). Cruz Freeman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Darlington will be playing in front of their home fans against Ridge View at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blazers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.38 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wilson, they will venture away from home to take on South Florence at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
