Soccer Game Preview: Gwynedd Mercy Academy vs. North Penn

The Gwynedd Mercy Academy Monarchs will head out on the road to take on the North Penn Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy barely beat Mt. St. Joseph Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Monarchs' defense stepped up to hand the Magic a 3-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering Gwynedd Mercy Academy have won five contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Mt. St. Joseph Academy with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Riley Bazela, Carey Brooks, and Lily Walker.

Meanwhile, North Penn had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Panthers. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but North Penn were the better team in the second half.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy's record is now 12-1-1. As for North Penn, their record now sits at 6-3-2.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy couldn't quite get it done against North Penn in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Monarchs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
