Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Johnson Creek's Winning Streak

Johnson Creek and Deerfield squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Johnson Creek had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Demons. The Bluejays' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

While Johnson Creek ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21.

Attigun Benz paced Johnson Creek's offense, picking up 15 kills. Benz got some help from Caroline Armstrong and her three assists. Finally, Cecilia Micale kept Johnson Creek's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Lily Betthauser was the offensive standout of the match as she had 17 digs and four assists. She has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last five times she's played. Ava Berge also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Johnson Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Deerfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 25-12.

Johnson Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Deerfield, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Waterloo on the 25th.
