Soccer Game Preview: Wheaton-Warrenville South vs. Central

The Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the Central Rockets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wheaton-Warrenville South will be strutting in after a win while Central will be coming in after a loss.

It was a proper cat-fight when Wheaton-Warrenville South duked it out with Lyons last Thursday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lions 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for Wheaton-Warrenville South.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Central's offense. They came up short against St. Charles East on Tuesday, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 115th, while St. Charles East are ranked 19th).

Wheaton-Warrenville South's win bumped their record up to 2-0-1. As for Central, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Wheaton-Warrenville South took their victory against Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 5-1 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
