Softball Game Preview: Quantico Warriors vs. Trinity Christian Gryphons

The Quantico Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Trinity Christian Gryphons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Quantico has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Trinity Christian will arrive with seven straight wins.

Monday just wasn't the day for Quantico's offense. They came up short against Seton on Monday, falling 27-0. The shutout was out of character for the Warriors seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Episcopal.

Emma Sibert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Sibert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Gilbert, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Chaplin, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Trinity Christian's record now sits at 7-3. As for Quantico, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Quantico has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Quantico might still be hurting after the 25-2 loss they got from Trinity Christian when the teams last played on April 7th. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
