Basketball Recap: Maria Almaraz-Nolt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leroy-Ostrander over Kingsland

LeRoy-Ostrander was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 51-38 to the Kingsland Knights. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 63-38 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

LeRoy-Ostrander lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Maria Almaraz-Nolt, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Miranda Nagel, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, LeRoy-Ostrander smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

LeRoy-Ostrander's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Kingsland, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LeRoy-Ostrander will venture away from home to square off against Lewiston-Altura at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kingsland, they will head out to challenge Lanesboro at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
