Football Game Preview: Colts Neck Cougars vs. Shore Regional Blue Devils

The Colts Neck Cougars will challenge the Shore Regional Blue Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Saturday, Colts Neck got the win against Freehold Boro by a conclusive 28-7. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Colonials recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Colts Neck got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryson Royal out in front who rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns Royal has posted since back in November of 2024. Joe Pignatelli was another key rusher, rushing for 77 yards and one TD on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Colts Neck was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 236 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 69.7 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 213.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shore Regional). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Point Pleasant Beach 63-7. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-7.

Shore Regional now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Colts Neck, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
