Basketball Game Preview: Hun Raiders vs. Shore Regional Blue Devils

The Hun Raiders and the Shore Regional Blue Devils will compete for holiday cheer at 6:40 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, the stars were shining brightly for Hun in a 64-46 victory over Tower Hill. The Raiders pushed the score to 52-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hillers cut but never quite recovered from.

Hun relied on the efforts of Gabby D'Agostino, who went 8 for 12 on her way to 20 points and five assists, and Jayla Williams, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The game was D'Agostino's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Addi McNally was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Shore Regional took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday (and then some). They put the hurt on Toms River East with a sharp 68-44 win.

Shore Regional's win came from a few key players Hun will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kimi Sayson, who went 9 of 18 on her way to 23 points along with six assists and six steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Fiore, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Shore Regional smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Hun's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Shore Regional, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
